Technology

The human brain is the most complex organ of the body. Three dimensional (3D) models aim to create artificial systems in which cells can grow or interact with their surroundings and try to recapitulate the complexity of structure and function of native brain tissue. 3D scaffolds enable cells to maintain their in vivo morphology, behavior and responsiveness within an in vitro model system, for many cell types including stem cells in developmental morphogenesis, for pharmacology, drug metabolism and drug toxicity studies.

Bio3Dmatrix kits are specific for neuronal cells and are available in multiple configurations to meet the needs and requirements of various research fields:

  • 2D Cell Culture Kits as pretreated pasticware

  • 3D Cell Culture Kits that include clear dry scaffold and thermosensitive liquid matrix (natural polymers, animal-free, bioink)

Bio3DmatriX 3D Cell Culture Complete Kit provides a ready-to-use 3D platform, adaptable to highthroughput strategies for setting up 3D neuronal cell cultures to carry out high quality and reliable morphological, electrophysiological and pharmacological studies.

Innovative 3D matrices for advanced modelling

Our mission is helping researchers in life science by providing advanced technologies through innovative 3D matrix products. The versatility of our biopolymer technology enables a range of applications in different areas: tissue engineering, drug delivery and food packaging.

About us

The company

Bio3DmatriX is an innovate start-up and Spinoff of University of Genoa (Italy), born in 2020 in the BioNanoengineering laboratory of DIBRIS, with the aim of developing innovative and highly versatile kits for neurotoxicity studies, tissue engineering and bioprinting.

In 2019, the proposing team obtained the third prize at “business plan competition’’ of the University of Genoa.

In 2021, Bio3DmatriX obtained a financial award "Build up your tech” (BUYT) financed by University of Genova and by Ministry of Economic Development.

The team has extensive expertise in biopolymers applications such as fabrication and characterization of 3D scaffolds for tissue engineering, smart drug delivery systems for nanomedicine, edible bioactive films for food packaging. These expertise and knowledge are being employed to assure that our products are of the highest quality, consistent from lot-to-lot and easy-to-use for our research customers.

We continue to add several innovative new products each year that provide research tools for our customers worldwide. We develop new products and technologies within our company and also collaborate with many research institutes, universities and life science companies.
